My Watch Looks Like It Has Moisture In It And It Stopped Working.?
Posted by Billy in Question & AnswerI have had this Casio watch for a long time. I bought it while I was in Kuwait in the Middle East. I love this watch, and it is hard to find a decent watch to replace it. It is 200m water proof. But recently I noticed moisture in it ( I can barely see the hands), and it stopped ticking today. It ticks when I smack it with my palm of my hand, but stops after a few seconds. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or is it time for me to buy a new watch?

Turn it upside down and place the crystal on a dark washcloth and put a table lamp over it with a 40 watt bulb. Make sure the strap is out of the way. Leave it ALONE for 24 hours. Try it. Sometimes it’ll take an additional 24 hours. GL!
Take it to a watch repair place, and see if you can get a new battery and seal for the back. They’ll be able to tell you how much it would cost, and whether it’s worth saving or better to just get a new one.
I have an expensive Seiko watch that’s supposed to be waterproof to however deep. I had it for several years and went snorkeling with it in Hawaii one day. I went pretty deep and noticed it fogging up within the next couple days. When I got back home, I took it to a watch repair place who said the rubber seal on the back cover had kind of deteriorated, allowing a bit of water to leak in. They put in a new battery and seal. I think it cost like $25. But, it was worth it to fix a $350 watch. And, it’s worked fine ever since.
You can take it to your local jeweler and ask or go to Casio’s website. Casio has an online repair request form, see: http://www.casio.com/support/ My bet is it will be cheaper in the end to replace the watch, but you never know.
