i know SF teams can get issued this one watch thats supposedly able to stop a 9mil round (i forget the name, luar or solar or something like that) but they mainly give them to friends who think that they’re cool. most of them wear the cheap 15 dollar watches that you get at the PX.
i wore the 15 dollar one for all of my 16 month deployment. it was blown up 4 times, and i cant even count the amount of times it got bashed, slammed, or soaked in anything from blood to water to hydrogen peroxide. got back from deployment over a year ago, and its still working perfect.
keep in mind this is only based off the SF guys that i know.
Cheap Timex from the PX with a nylon band also from the PX that had a velcro strap that covered the face so it wouldn’t reflect/get scratched up. Still got it, still works too but the band is really gamey smelling now.
A cheap timex. You don’t want to waste money on something that will only get broken or lost. Most guys have a cheap watch with a decent light on it, and that is not reflective. Anything more than that is a waste.
My husband swears by his G-shock. Its held up well and it has no battery so need is worry about that. Plus he can display his time and my time so he’s not always calculating the time difference when he calls him!!!!
I had a casio, But I didn’t take it to the field. Always had this el cheapo little timex for that.

I had a cheap Timex Indiglo watch during my deployment. Still works, but it is sitting in a drawer.
They don’t wear one. If their sergeant wants them to know what time it is , he will tell them.
Another proud member of the “cheap timex” club here.
They wear the knock off Rolex,Breitling, and Tag
