I want to record some videos at high speed like this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gttZbYIX… (Firepit Flames Casio EX-F1 @ 300 fps)
How much in UK does the cheapest camera cost to do that with?
I don’t know about FPS but it seems the Canon EX-F1 (used in vid above) is around £500 and captures 300 FPS and upwards, so I was thinking by watching that video I need at least 300 FPS but any help would be appreciated, ideally you would show me one which is cheaper than £500 and still does high speed like this. Thanks.

Ever since I read about the Casio high speed camera, I was fascinated by its features. The camera promised 1000 frames per second (fps) photography at incredible 1/40,000 sec. speed! I weighed the pros and cons of getting the normal 20x optical zoom model or the pocket version. The pocket version had a lower optical zoom of 5x but there could be more fun carrying it innocuously to parties and social functions. So I ordered the Casio Exilim Ex-FC100 camera from a shop in New York and received it by UPS within a few days. I opened the box and looked at the small 156g camera which was about the size of a normal cell phone, just a little wider and thicker. But on closer look, there seem to be many buttons on it which looked unfamiliar to me. The first remarkable difference is that the movie mode has its own dedicated ON-OFF record button separate from the normal shutter button for taking pictures. This facilitates the taking of snapshots even when the movie clip is being shot! Just below the movie record button is a rotary toggle to change from standard to high definition HD mode. The camera is capable of taking a HD movie at 1280×720 pixels at 30 fps. The STD mode supports high speed movies at 210 fps, 420 fps and 1000 fps. As you climb higher on the fps scale, the size of the image reduces proportionately. The size of the image at 480×360 pixels at 210 fps is acceptable format for YouTube. I tried shooting the flight of pigeon at different speeds, and was surprised at the 1000 fps movie clip. The recorded slow movement of the wings was a pleasure to watch. It displayed how nature has perfected its flying machine; you can see it at YouTube:

Since I read the high-speed Casio camera, I was fascinated by its characteristics. The camera has promised to 1,000 images per second (fps) to capture incredible 1 / 40, 000 sec. Speed! I weighed the pros and cons of the normal 20x optical zoom model or version of pocket. The paperback version has a lower limit 5x optical zoom, but there could be more fun to wear innocent parties and at social functions. So I ordered the Casio Exilim EX-FC100 camera in a store in New York and received by UPS a few days.
I opened the window and looked at the little camera that 156g was the size of a normal phone, just a little 'wider and thicker. But looking closer, seems to be a lot of buttons that seem strange to me.
The first striking difference is that the video mode is just the key ON-OFF records separate from the shutter button is normal to take pictures. This makes it easy to take pictures even when the clip is shot!
Just below the button to record video is a rotary switch to switch between standard for high definition HD. The camera is capable of making a movie HD 1280×720 pixels at 30 fps. The STD mode supports high-speed video at 210 fps, 420 fps and 1000 fps. As you move the ladder fps, the image size decreases proportionally. The size of the image in 480×360 pixels at 210 frames per second is the acceptable format for YouTube.
I tried shooting pigeons flying at different speeds, and was surprised at the FPS 1000 video clips. The slow movement registered wings was a pleasure to watch. It shows how nature has developed his flying machine, you can see on YouTube: 7RC2W97_yz0. I saved a man who works at 210 fps and held the foot movements, which were not visible at normal speed. The film of a bird flying in the sky at 420 fps is also fun to see.
But I quickly discovered the limits of the function at high speed. The flash does not support high speed, and then HS shooting indoors or at night does not give the expected results. The clips are grainy due to high ISO and not look so great. The function of high speed is useful for shooting sports and the movements of interest in outdoor environments better in sunlight or very bright light. I shot a film about the flight of a butterfly in my garden at 420 fps. The film proved to be an art film! My movements were jerky hand-smoothed by the high speed in a composition that flows smoothly! After exploring the movie mode, I went to see what the camera done for snapshots. I tried the normal opening and shutter priority settings, but found none. Exposure is fully automatic and the camera chooses the best exposure by adjusting the aperture, shutter speed and ISO (AUTO mode) on their own. There is no manual on this.
This requires manual adjustments are lots of options for speed. Given these characteristics, we know that versatility is a high-speed potential to give you the perfect shot every time. When an event occurs at a rapid pace, it is very difficult to seize the moment. When you press the shutter button, you may have lost that moment. There are 3 ways in which the camera allows you to overcome this obstacle: (1) offers a selection of a series of images taken 6M up to 30 frames per second, just before and after clicking on the button that makes the shutter speed in continuous SC or B (2) Get the camera to show the action in slow motion for you to choose the right time. When you tap and drag an object by pressing the "Slow" at the top left, the camera starts recording the images for the period chosen by you, which can be 1, 2 or 3 seconds. The camera picture is then stored slowly, the speed you have chosen the scale from 1 to 8. As the images are read on the screen, you have plenty of time to choose the right time of the event by pressing the shutter button. Only the part where you click is saved on the camera. And (3), to capture and save multiple images at 1 fps in continuous mode at normal speed. The camera takes pictures and records in 9M size until the trigger is held down. You can then select the shots you like. All these three modes give you the tools to capture images during the duration of the event so as not to lose that moment. I thought it was the single most useful capabilities of the camera.
The requirement for the camera to take fashion shots 9M single image, the image quality with standard settings has not been satisfactory. I found that I needed to put quality at the end of 2 sharpness, saturation and contrast to -1 to 1 to get good shots with my camera Panasonic comparable. The other picture settings are easy to install quickly. Press the button at the bottom right labeled BS which means Best Shot. Thumbnail images representing different scenes, such as drop shadow, however, when high, etc to open the screen. Just left the scene you shoot with a corresponding and purple, all settings are done automatically.
Overall, I think the camera can be used to capture a series of images for the duration of the event from which the selection could be made. This is a unique solution to capture a good time to make our photos look more attractive and without abnormalities timed shots. I really do not know if there is a practical value of photo every day for his ability to make films in slow motion with the high-speed recording, if something interesting. It may have applications specific to the analysis of the movements of athletes and actors. The ability of the camera for HD movies is a positive feature of welcome. EX-FC 100 is undoubtedly a significant step forward in camera innovation. Casio deserves praise for initiating such a creative camera market. As for me, is a camera that I would carry in my pocket wherever I go.
